A SOUTHERN HOLIDAY COCKTAIL

I am usually not one for the sweet, filling and dare I say highly caloric cocktail drinks but this one caught my eye.  While the kids fill their bellies with cookies, cakes and other goodies on Christmas Eve, I think I will serve these to the adults as an after dinner treat.

 

This cocktail was featured on MadeByGirl but provided by Lauren from Perpetually Chic.  Milk punch is an old drink that's common in New Orleans and also a holiday tradition throughout the Deep South. 

 

HOLIDAY MILK PUNCH

(I think I'll call mine a "Frosty Snowman")

Ingredients

-4 cups vanilla bean ice cream

-1 cup whole milk

-1/2 cup bourbon

-1/4 cup white rum

-1/4 cup dry brandy

-nutmeg

Instructions

Blend first five ingredients for 5-10 seconds. Pour into stainless steel pitcher or chilled bowl to keep cold. Serve in chilled glasses and top each with a sprinkle of nutmeg.

*Note: Recipe yields 6 punch cups. Make 2-3 batches for a party and reserve extra in the freezer.

VOTE FOR ME.....

Not because mine is the best but because you love me or at least some of you love me (MOM). I entered Emily Henderson's mantel/fireplace/anything horizontal Christmas display contest.  I am the first to admit, mine is not the best but it's not the worst (in my opinion).  I kind of threw it together quickly.  Seeing as how I have no mantel, I didn't have a lot of space to work with and since the Christmas clock is ticking, I didn't have a lot of time to put towards this last minute effort to win Emily's brass trunk, which I really want!!  Not to mention, I have a major design/girl crush on Emily.  She is one of my favorites and just the idea that she will see a picture of my house makes me happy.  Yes WMB (my sister), I know that is lame.

Yes I get a little crazy this time of year.  I love Christmas and with hosting my husband's Christmas party, I'm pulling out all the stops. Last week you saw the flocked gorgeousness in my living room.  Tonight I put up the hot pink tree in the bar area.  We've had this tree for several years and I'll never forget my mother-in-laws face when she saw it.  All she could say was "Wow, that's a pink tree".........classic.  Here is a quick shot.  I haven't completed this one yet so I'll post better pictures later this week. 

WHAT THE FLOCK!

I could not resist on that post title.  We get a flocked Christmas tree every year.  At first I was afraid I was warping my children by not going with the traditional green tree and they would wish our house looked like "the Joneses" (read the Gogo Manifesto to get that joke) but every year they get really excited about the flocked version and love showing it off.  I always had green trees growing up and they are beautiful but somehow flocked seems more Gogo Style.  I am stumped on the tree topper this year.  I'm thinking about trying a DIY gold styrofoam sunburst thingy.  I'm not a very good DIYer so we shall see.
