Melissa and I returned from New Orleans on Tuesday afternoon and I am just now starting to feel normal. What a wonderful, crazy, wild trip. If you follow me on Facebook then you saw some of the pics but here is a quick recap:
We stayed at this beautiful home on St. Charles Avenue directly on the parade route.
Every day consisted of parades starting at 9am and ending at 11pm.
Saturday night we attended the Emdymion Ball held in the Superdome featuring Kelly Clarkson as the headliner. The only way to describe this experience is to imagine being at a concert with 30,000 people however everyone is dressed in ball gowns and tuxes. The Emdymion parade actually comes through the Superdome and you get pounded with beads and other trinkets that they've saved till the end. It was so much fun! At roughly 2:30am, Melissa and I decided to make our way to the front to get closer to the band. That journey ended with Melissa slipping on a pile of beads and laughing off what we thought was just a sprained knee. We left the ball at 4am.
(SUPERDOME ALL DECKED OUT IN MARDI GRAS COLORS)
(ME AND OUR GRACIOUS HOST, ANN!)
Over the next few days, more parades and more swelling to Melissa's leg. When we arrived back in Nashville Tuesday, she went directly to the doctor and confirmed TWO fractures to her fibula bone!! The doctor laughed and said "Mardi Gras must be good pain medicine". He couldn't believe she had been hobbling around on it for two and a half days.
GOOD TIMES, GOOD TIMES!!
Have a great weekend.......back on Monday with laundry room wallpaper reveal (finally)!!!
CHEERS!
