While in New Orleans last week, I found an amazing shop filled with mid-century goodness. Leave it to me to fall in love with the largest piece in the store. What is it with me and sofas? I currently have four sofas in my house and a fifth one in the attic....oh and I probably shouldn't mention I just sold a sofa that was in my office so I recently had five sofas in my house. Why can't I be obsessed with smaller things like chairs or lamps? (oh wait...I am).
Anywhoo.....the shop has this amazing L-shaped sectional designed by Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin. The sectional consists of two cream colored sofa's attached by a corner table. The entire piece sits on a wooden base topped with chrome plating. It is so comfortable and screams, "SIT ON ME AND HAVE A COCKTAIL". I'm considering this piece for the lake/living room. Based on dimensions it will fit perfect but my hesitation is the lack of flexibility. The pieces have to be used together because of the way the base is built.
I know me and I like to move things around. Will this piece be too constrictive? What are your thoughts?
Sofa:
It would go in the lake room in place of cream chairs and brown sofa:
I think it would be perfect in your lake room! Love it.
ReplyDeleteWill it make you feel better if I tell you we have 6 sofas? Crazy.
I say do it! It was amazing and it would be perfect in that room.
ReplyDeleteIt is so very cool and very you. Go for it!
ReplyDeleteI live near New Orleans and I would love to visit this store. What's the name of it (I promise not to buy your sofa.)?
ReplyDeleteI am hearing you say you like to move things around. This would not be flexible for that. Can you be happy with it in one place? If you can, then go for it.
ReplyDeleteI say list your sofa and chairs for sale and if they sell, it was meant to be. :) I too like to rearrange constantly, but I knew my LR sofa would allow for that either...it's a big commitment, but one I don't regret....
ReplyDeleteI think either would work, Brandy, but I like your current slipper chairs/sofa combination. Or, you could build another wing onto your house and have both. : )

I love the sectional Brandy! If the price is right I would get it, use it in the space, and when you're ready to change, you can sell it!
ReplyDeleteI was very satisfied with the sofa. It was packed in a way that made it very easy to manage while getting up a very difficult stairway. The sofa looks very nice and was easy to put together. Moysha Furniture was the business that my order came from and they were great to work with when I had a question about my delivery and it was to me in 1 week from the time I placed my order.
ReplyDeleteMaybe two or three years ago I ordered a red microfiber sofa/loveseat combo from Amazon masking under one of these names. I don't know who actually produces them, but it was one of the worst investments I've ever made. Now while I cannot find the exact model I ordered back then, the shapes, descriptions and pillows are a dead-giveaway to the fact that these are all being churned out by the same company. They are AWFUL! After only 2 or 3 years, the bottom cushions have lost all shape; the gap between them requires a blanket between to prevent falling into the crevice; the springs are already poking out of the corners; and the back cushions are sagging messes. The only good thing I can say is that the color and fabric is great. The microfiber material is fairly durable and easy to clean. But everything else about these couches is just horrid.
ReplyDeleteI will NEVER buy a small sofa again without seeing it/testing it out in a store.
