LAST POST....I THINK

OK so the last post was supposed to be my final Gogo post but here is one more and the last....I hope.  I finally have my subscribe option figured out on Make + Model.  I don't want to lose any of my previous followers so if you have Chateau À Gogo on your favorites list on your blog page, please change it to Make + Model (www.makeandmodelnashville.com).  Also, to get regular M+M updates, please subscribe to my site with your email.  The subscribe option is located at the bottom of the Blog page or on the Contacts page.  If you subscribe to Gogo via email, your subscription will NOT automatically switch to Make + Model (bummer).  Thank you so much for doing this.  I want to stay in touch with all of you!!

Cheers,
Brandy

BIG NEWS ABOUT THE BIZ!

Remember earlier this year when I posted about starting an official business, website and possibly new name?  Well, it's all happening!!  I timed it with the upcoming sale so I could roll out the new name and website all at once.  So although I'm a little sad to say good-bye to Chateau À Gogo, I"m really excited about the new name and overall direction I'm heading.  From the beginning, I knew Gogo was just a starting point for me to get my creative juices flowing pre-corporate world retirement. Now that I've had a good year to acclimate to my new life and really consider which direction I want to head, I'm ready to take the next step.

The new business is Make and Model, LLC.  It will be a combination of styling services and sales of unique, vintage pieces.  As many of my close friends know, I struggled with a name for a while.  I'm talking weeks of sleepless nights considering every name under the sun.  I wanted to have that "aha moment" when it just felt right.  I was starting to think it would never come.  Then, I (one who NEVER naps) fell asleep on the couch from exhaustion and woke up with the name Make + Model in my head.  My husband can attest to this as he was in the room when I awoke and said, "I have it!".  The name stands for several things.  It sums up my love of finding unique and interesting pieces and then investigating everything about its history, its origin, its story....its make and model.  "Make" also refers to my love for bespoke, one-of-a-kind pieces and "Model" refers to the act of using these pieces in spaces styled by yours truly. So there you have it, new name, new site, new adventure!!

I am still going to continue the blog but it will be under the Make + Model name.  I really hope all of you will continue to follow me.  Your support has helped me have the courage to move forward.

So remember, when you start seeing Make + Model on your Instagram, Twitter, etc....it's just me :)

Farewell Gogo!!  This will be my last post on this site.

I WANT TO BE FIONA LEAHY

I seriously want to be Fiona Leahy when I grow-up.  Too bad we are basically the same age.  She is from Ireland but moved to New York in her twenties and became a fashion stylist.  She then moved on to jewelry design for Jade Jagger, then Louis Vitton and is now a world famous events planner to the rich and famous.  Her converted print-factory, turned home is featured in the August edition of Living Etc.  Apologies for the quality of the pictures (taken from my phone).

(I want everything in this picture)

(I need these pillows in my life)

(the chairs, the tables, the wall, the flowers......love it all!!)

CHASSIE POST - FLIGHTS OF FANCY

In this month's Living Etc, I'm loving Chassie Post's NYC apartment.  Is it possible to have quirky, elegant and edgy all in one space?  I would say yes!!  I love this girl!

HAULIN OATS

I'm a sucker for great packaging.  I discovered this local gourmet oatmeal business, Haulin Oats, at the 12th South Farmer's Market yesterday.  What a great concept and how cute to have on hand when you have overnight guests.  Their flavor options include:  Cinnamon Girl, Date in the Life, Lavender Blue and Chai a Little Tenderness.  Check out their website for more information.

SOUTHERN LIVING IDEA HOUSE - SNEAK PEEK

Last week I was honored to be part of a blogger exclusive sneak peek of the Southern Living Idea House located on the Fontanel property in Nashville.  For those of you that don't know, Fontanel is the previous home of country music star, Barbara Mandrell.  The Idea House opened on June 29th and will be open to the public through December.  After that, the plans are to use the structure as a bed and breakfast/events facility.  We were only allowed to take pictures of the exterior, dining and guest cottages because the full property will be featured in next months Southern Living.

KINFOLK MAGAZINE - A GUIDE FOR SMALL GATHERINGS

I recently discovered Kinfolk Magazine.  I'm not sure how I've missed this amazing publication because both Anthropologie and West Elm are stockists but apparently I've had blinders on.  I was in a booth at the Nashville Flea Market last month where they were using these magazines as props.  I was immediately hooked just by the covers and was saddened to find out they were not for sale.  I went home that evening and ordered 3 back issues from eBay.  It is a quarterly, 144-page, ad-free print magazine that collects ideas from a growing international community of artists, writers, designers, photographers, cooks and others who are interested in creating small gatherings and finding new things to make and do.  Each issue is a work of art through the photography and eloquently written articles.  After reading, I feel inspired to slow down and  enjoy time with my family and friends.

THAT'S A WRAP FOR SUPER MOON 2013!

Apologies upfront.  I know most of you are probably tired of hearing about the Super Moon Party but I promised some I would do a quick recap so here it goes. We had a great time and the weather cooperated.  The final headcount was 65 guests which sounds like a lot but it never felt crowded thanks to our large backyard space.

The Stage is Set

Countdown to Start: food truck, bar and music in place!

(Peach, Cherry and Original Moonshine.....Peach was the BEST!!)

Guests Arrive

Night Falls:  the moon rises, crepes are consumed

 as are more cocktails

It gets later and sillier
(yes I decided on the green maxi from Anthro)

Melissa and I dance to Wagon Wheel......of course

Last set of guests leave at 1:45am and the moon is high in the sky.  Jud makes me a grilled egg and cheese sandwich because guess who was too busy to even eat a crepe!!

And with that said, I say goodnight to the Super Moon of 2013
