A Sigh of Relief

Because my style (aka Gogo Style) is somewhat unique, I've often wondered how well it would be received by Nashville if I ever tried to promote my aesthetic in terms of products or design services.  The first step taken to answer that question was to have a sale showcasing items that are indicative of this style.  I was scared of several things:  would anyone show up?, would anyone buy anything?, would everyone be silently thinking "this look is not for me"?.  It was comforting to know that I was sharing some of this burden with my co-host, Melissa from The Insane Domain, however having the sale in my home doubled my anxiety about how patrons would react to my overall decor.  My home is a true reflection of the design style I want to share.  By opening my front door, I was putting my heart and soul on display for the public to see and judge.  I realize this is all sounding very dramatic.  I mean it was a tag sale for Pete's sake but to me it was a test to see if others would embrace this style I'm so passionate about.

I am happy to report that within the first 30 minutes of the sale my fears were calmed.  As the cars rolled in and customers left with arm loads full of items, I knew that things were headed in the right direction.  As I was showing one customer around the sale, she said to me  "I am so happy and relieved to see this style in Nashville.....your style is exactly what I love".  That comment made my day.

I am so grateful to everyone that attended and would love to hear from you all regarding future sales. What would you like to see more of?  Are there items we did not have that you specifically would like to see next time?  Were there logistics about the sale you wish were different?  Any feedback is appreciated.  If you do not want to post on the blog, then please email me directly at chateauagogo@comcast.net

Thank Yous:
Thank you to my mother who painted, cleaned, priced and listened to me whine all week long.
Thank you to Melissa for co-hosting the sale and being my sounding board.
Last but not least, thank you to everyone that attended confirming that there is a place for Gogo Style.

(here we are looking so color coordinated; yes my sleeves were quite "poofy")

(don't you just love the Gogo sign)

  2. I am happy that your sale was such a success! Coming from someone who was there, I can truthfully say I heard many, many favorable comments. Everyone was impressed with your home, loved the items that were for sale, and was looking forward to your next endeavor. Now that you know that there are others out there who embrace your style, I know that you will feel confident in spreading the "Go-Go" love even more.
