FLEA FINDS FOR MAY AND SUMMER BREAK

So today was the monthly flea and unfortunately, I did not get off to my usual early start.  The last day of school for my little ones was Tuesday so needless to say, this momma is in complete transition mode.  To  make things even more crazy, we are about to head out on a 12 day vacation so I'm up to my ears in laundry, packing, dog-care coverage, mail pick-up, etc......

But enough about that, here is what you really want to see....highlights of the flea:

Solid Walnut Mid-Century Ice Bucket

Yes all my friends will tell you I have a soft spot for mid-century barware.  I just love it.  This beauty I snatched up without hesitation.  Made of solid American Walnut (label attached) and glass insert.  She will be part of the amazing barware offered at the July sale!!

And every flea with the kids ends like this......Funnel Cake solves all life's problems!

I will be MIA for the next week or so but I will be back in full force and hopefully have a lot to post about.  I plan to visit Circa Who and Palm Beach Regency on my Florida adventure!!

Wow 14 years ago today I married my soul mate!  It has flown by which I think is a good sign.  Here we are on our first date 20 years ago May 1992!!

Happy Mother's Day to all and on top of all the love and gifts showered upon me this morning, I was so excited to read the May issue of Lonny featuring the amazing Kelly Wearstler/ K-Dub!  You know I love her!  

This article focusing on her life with her precious boys which is refreshing to see.   She too has to juggle life like all of us.

GWYNETH'S EASY SALMON RECIPE

Last week I ordered both of Gwyneth Paltrow's cookbooks My Father's Daughter and It's All Good.   I was afraid they would contain amazing sounding dishes that take 25 ingredients and 2 hours to make therefore finding their way to the "Land of Forgotten Cookbooks" but I've been pleasantly surprised with the simplicity of many of the recipes and ingredients. 

The other night I made Salmon with Sriracha + Lime.  It was so easy and so delicious I felt the need to share.  Try it this weekend if you are a Salmon lover!

Salmon with Sriracha + Lime

Serves 4

Zest of 1/2 lime

1 1/2 TBS freshly squeezed lime juice

1 1/2 tsp Sriracha Sauce

1 TBS good-quality maple syrup

1 1/4 pound salmon fillet with skin removed

2 TBS roughly chopped cilantro

Preheat oven to 425

Whisk together the lime zest, lime juice, Sriracha sauce and maple syrup along with a pinch of salt.  Line a baking dish with parchment paper, place the salmon on top, and pour the mixture over it.  Roast until the salmon is done to your liking - I like it when it's just cooked through and begins to flake, about 15 minutes, depending on the thickness.  Serve and sprinkle with cilantro.

I served this with brown rice, steamed veggies and a kale salad.  Everyone loved it!!  I highly recommend both books.

HER NAME WAS LOLA

I forgot to share my find from the April Nashville Flea.  Meet "Lola", she is a circa 1975 Chrome Chandelier with crackle glass globes.  Is she sexy or what?

Rejuvenation has an identical model currently in their vintage collection.  Now the big question (like always), do I keep her and put her in the laundry room in place of the granny chic crystal chandelier (see pictures here) or do I place her in inventory....oh decisions, decisions.

I WAS PICKED BY EMILY HENDERSON!

OK not me personally but my lucite bar stools were picked by Emily as one of her top 20 items she would save in a burning fire out of 550 entries!!  Honestly, I think I'm more excited that Emily Henderson actually knows I exist more than anything.  She may forget about me tomorrow, but she knows me today!!  Yes the design/girl crush continues.  Read all about it here.

A shout out to Charmaine (My Best Friend Craig) who's chairs were also picked.  LOVE THEM!

KELLY WEARSTLER AND VINTAGE LUCITE FLATWARE

I've decided that if Kelly Wearstler were my friend (and one day she will be :), she would be so happy with my most recent estate sale find.  A service for 8 Supreme Cutlery lucite and stainless flatware set made in Japan circa 1960s/70s (41 total pieces) in excellent condition. It truly is LUCITE GREATNESS.  I will be sad to see it go but that is the nature of the biz....sell or become a hoarder.

I think these would pair nicely with any of the Kelly Wearstler patterns for Pickard below.  Have I mentioned how crazy I am for KW?  If you haven't picked up her new book yet (Rhapsody), do so.  It is inspiration overload.
