WONDER TWIN POWERS!

These Thomasville faux bamboo headboards have just hit Gogo Studio. They have been professionally painted in a high gloss black lacquer finish.

I actually love the idea of twin beds for a guest room but they would also be great in a child's room or put together to make a king headboard......endless possibilities. Here are some inspiration shots.

FLEA MARKET FINDS!

This weekend was the Nashville Flea Market.  The October one is always one of the biggest.  I went on Friday with the girls and scored two great pieces.

First, the find of the day, a 1950/60s Lightolier Mid Century Chandelier.  She is beautiful and is now hanging in my foyer.  I've done a little research and think the design may be attributed to Parzinger or Sciolari which would be amazing.  Either way at $60.00, she was a deal.

Second deal, was a Drexel Faux Bamboo Dining Set (table and 4 chairs).  These I plan to refurbish and sale.

I picked up a few more things, but those were the big finds!!

EXTREME MAKEOVERS!

I've been posting periodically about my furniture scores such as the Dixie campaign dresser, Henry Link pagoda cabinet and the Thomasville bedroom set.  Some pieces have already been snatched up by clients, some pieces are staying with me and some will be for sale.  Here are a few before and after shots.  I apologize for the quality of the after shots.  All inventory is currently loaded in my garage.  I will showcase better photos later once the pieces are in their final homes.

The campaign dresser went Kelly Green for a client's living room.  I used the exact color that designer Vanessa De Vargas used on her campaign chests featured in Lonny.  It really looks amazing and is going to be a statement piece for the room.

For the Henry Link pagoda chest and faux bamboo mirror, I decided to go Hermes Orange.

For the Thomasville dresser, nightstand and two twin headboards I went black.

All of these pieces have been professionally finished using a 3 step conversion varnish process.  The result is amazing.  All pieces look like they just stepped off the showroom floor.  What do you think?

DON'T FORGET THIS SUNDAY - NATE BERKUS

Nate Berkus design hits Target this Sunday, October 21st.  I've got my eye on the Chevron Ginger Jars for sure!  I saw similar ones in Domino years ago and have always wanted a pair.  Monday on Good Morning America he staged them on either side of a fireplace.   I have no idea where they will end up in my world.  I just know I want them.  The lacquered tortoise shells are very cool also.

MYTHICAL DOLPHIN ANDIRONS?? WHY NOT!

On Monday, I ran through a local antique mall and quickly spotted a pair of solid brass "dragon-fish" andirons.  I was immediately drawn to them then started questioning my sanity and wondered if they were too much.  I am the first to admit that I'm very attracted to quirky things and sometimes have to stop myself from going too far.  I decided to sleep on it which is ironic because I had a terrible nights sleep thinking about the crazy dragon-fish.

With design I've learned that if something feels right and bugs the crap out of you, go with your gut and get it.  You will hardly ever have regrets.   First thing Tuesday,  I popped back up to the mall and scored my dragon-fish andirons for an even better price than tagged.  After doing some research I discovered they are actually considered mythical dolphins and they seem to be quite pricey based on an identical set found on Ebay.  I think they look right at home in the living room. What do you think?

BLUSH AND GOLD

On Friday, I stopped by my usual sites to see if there were any treasures to score.  I only bought one item at each store but when I arrived home and grouped all my purchases together, I was surprised to see how well they complimented each other.
  • Pair of Lusterware lamps in serious need of cleaning but a beautiful glamorous sheen (color is soft pearlescent cream with coral bands); I think I will change out the bases for lucite ones and give them a new life
  • Set of Chinoiserie placemats with blush, peach and coral tones with gold border
  • Set of 3 blush glass salt/pepper shakers (for some reason there were 3 in the set)

Later that night on Pinterest, one of my first pictures to pin was this tablescape - blush and gold!

It made me realize, I'm definitely feeling this girly, blushy pink/peach/coral vibe right now.  Here are some other inspirations.  Are you feeling it?

(Kathy, it's your credenza in original paint I might add!!!)

I'M FAMOUS.....

Ok not me but my lucite barstools (as seen on my Gogo Folio Page).  Check out today's posts by The Decorista and Abode Love.  They both featured the picture from my house of my amazing lucite barstools (picture taken by Callie Tinney).  This has made my Friday.  Too bad they don't know I exist but at least they love my barstools.  I plan on riding this high through the weekend!!  Have a great one!

AN ICONIC CHOICE.....MAYBE???

Martinique Wallpaper

As I still struggle with the wallpaper choice for the laundry room, I came across some interesting information about Martinique Wallpaper and why it is considered "iconic".  This wallpaper is considered one of the most famous wallpapers in the world, it's formal name is Martinique but casually known as The Banana Leaf Wallpaper.

It was designed in 1941 and based on the tropical jungles of central America. In 1942 it was used in the refurbishment of the Beverly Hills Hotel (where it is still used).

This wallpaper has also been used extensively in Manhattan's Indochine restaurant.

Which provided the setting for a recent Vogue photoshoot.

Remember 'The Golden Girls'?  It was even featured in Blanches bedroom. (which makes me think of Bywater Boo's most recent post).

The Martinique is a classic and even now 70 years later it is still being printed and used in today's decor such as Nicky Hilton's LA home.

And, Brian Atwood's Milan apartment.

So the question is, is it right for the laundry room or will I feel like I'm washing clothes in a jungle?  Thoughts????
