HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH?

I've been asking myself that recently about brass.  As I look around my house, I'm starting to see more and more of it.  I know right....we used to cringe at the word and now it's like we can't get enough.  So funny how everything cycles.  I do think there is a limit and I may have hit it this weekend with my latest large-scale purchase that I'm loving!!

I have long coveted my friend ModFruGal's brass etagere in her kitchen (read post here).

ModFruGal brass etagere

Erika from Small Shop Studio found one also and used it in her office (read post).

So when I stumbled across one this weekend I thought, why not, I'll give it a try.

I have to admit, it is pretty sexy.  My 9yr old son said this morning, "Momma, I love the new piece in the dining room.  If she were alive, I would marry her."........ok, not sure what to make of that but I think it means he really likes it.

Ignore the staging.  I'm still working on it.  Better pictures later!

  1. Yes, I definitely think there's a limit and I'm also trying to find that balance! That piece though looks amazing so you can't go wrong! And your right how similar that light is to my VC ones!! Literally a spitting image of the shape and everything!

  3. I often ask myself the same question, but usually I'm wondering if I'm including too many chinoiserie pieces. That etagere is fantastic and hope it stays at the chateau!

  4. Oh, you found one! Yay! Did you convince the dealers at that Phoenix Flea to sell or did you find a different one altogether?

  5. This is not too much. I'm not sure where to stop and start...on anything. I guess you just step back and look, or your kids say "enough".

  6. I think its awesome! I am running into this at my new house, but with fixtures....all my showers and mirrored closet doors are covered in tacky rusted brass, not pretty brass. I am wondering how shower-safe Buff'n'rub is. Luckily you have found a fabulous brass piece, have fun styling it!
